Our Story
Cloud Storage Security (CSS) was founded to help organizations secure the data they store in the cloud. In 2020, as many businesses accelerated their move to the cloud, our team introduced Antivirus for Amazon S3, an in-tenant, multi-engine malware scanning solution designed to answer a common question: “How do I protect my data in cloud storage?” The goal was simple: provide an effective, easy-to-use way to reduce risk without disrupting existing workflows.
As customers’ environments grew and their data needs became more complex, they looked for broader visibility and control across their cloud storage systems. We then introduced DataDefender, a DSPM that offers inventory, classification, activity monitoring, threat detection, and configuration checks. Together, our products give organizations practical, reliable tools to strengthen data security in the cloud while keeping deployment and management straightforward.
With a nimble approach and an intense focus on automating data security in storage to help organizations meet best practices and achieve compliance, we are uniquely positioned to meet customer demand in an ever evolving security landscape.

Steven is a results-oriented executive with over two decades of strategic leadership and operational experience in scaling companies from early-stage through IPO in the technology and services sectors. Previously, he held key leadership roles at Vertafore, Zelis Healthcare, and MedAssets. His tenure in these positions was marked by strategic transformation, consistent revenue growth, and increased operational performance. Since joining Cloud Storage Security, Steven has effectively shaped strategy, aligned operations to drive growth, and is overseeing numerous strategic initiatives across the organization.
Rich Vorwaller
Chief Product Officer
Rich is a data-driven decision maker focused on providing customer value and driving outcomes. Previously, he held the role of Principal Product Manager for Amazon Detective at AWS. With more than 15 years of experience in product management, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and startups, Rich has a track record of launching successful products and services in competitive and dynamic markets. He holds multiple patents and publications in the field of cloud security as well as a certification in Pragmatic Product Management.

Chief Revenue Officer
Mike is a multifaceted leader with over 30 years of global technology sales experience, generating revenue for leaders in the cybersecurity, telecommunications, software, media, and enterprise sectors. Previously, he served in executive leadership roles with a number of technology leaders including GXC, Telcordia, and CSG International. At Cloud Storage Security, Mike oversees business development, direct and channel sales activities, as well as customer relationship initiatives.
